We are currently looking for Disability Support Workers to join our service locations in the Maitland, Newcastle and Greater Hunter Region.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Encouraging independence and supporting participants to achieve their personal goals.
  • Working with your team to consistently enforce and review participants Behaviour Support Plans.
  • Promoting the safety of the participants we support through completing detailed shift-handover notes, sleepover notes and incident reports.
  • Ensuring Safe Practices with medication dispensing, administration, monitoring and management.
  • Aiding and supporting participants with personal care, domestic duties, and daily living interests and community access activities.

About You

  • Flexibility to work within a service that provides 24/7 care, including office hours, sleepovers, and weekends.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience in behaviour management, restrictive practices, mealtime management, de-escalation techniques, and manual handling.
  • Candidates of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent are strongly encouraged to apply.

Minimum Requirements

  • Relevant Certificate relating to the Disability sector.
  • Current Australian Driver’s license.
  • Comprehensive vehicle insurance (or willingness to obtain).
  • Current Police, NDIS Worker, and Working with Children Checks.
  • First Aid, CPR, and COVID 19 Infection Control Certificates.
  • Evidence of Work Rights in Australia.
  • Up-to-date record of COVID 19 Vaccinations.
  • Completion of NDIS Worker Modules.
