About the Role

My Goal Australia is seeking reliable, professional Disability Support Workers to support and safeguard adults with disability in Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland and the Hunter.

This is a hands-on SIL role. You will be supporting participants in their own homes with daily living, personal care, medication support, implementation of behaviour support, community access, and overnight sleepovers.

Consistency, professionalism, and strong boundaries are essential. Our participants rely on familiar, trusted support workers, therefore this role is not suitable for people seeking occasional or ad-hoc shifts only.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting participants with personal care and daily living routines
  • Assisting with medication administration and documentation
  • Implementing behaviour support strategies as directed
  • Supporting community access and meaningful activities
  • Completing accurate progress notes and incident reports
  • Working inactive overnight sleepovers as part of the roster
  • Maintaining a safe, respectful, and structured home environment

Essential Requirements

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check (or in progress)
  • Current First Aid & CPR (or ability to obtain immediately)
  • Australian Driver’s Licence
  • Reliable personal vehicle with comprehensive insurance
  • Availability for active shifts and sleepovers
  • Ability to work confidently in Supported Independent Living (SIL)
  • Strong written communication and attention to detail
  • Commitment to safeguarding, professional boundaries, and quality practice

Our SIL Locations

We operate multiple SIL homes within a 40-kilometre radius of our Boolaroo Head Office, including:

  • Rutherford / Aberglasslyn
  • Raymond Terrace
  • New Lambton / Waratah / Mayfield
  • Speers Point / Boolaroo / Argenton / Booragul

Reliability & Professional Standards

Reliability, consistency, and accountability are critical in Supported Independent Living.

Our participants rely on familiar staff, and unplanned absences or last-minute cancellations have a direct impact on their wellbeing.

Applicants must be able to:

  • Commit to rostered shifts once accepted
  • Communicate early and professionally if issues arise
  • Maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries at all times

Quality Practice & NDIS Code of Conduct

All registered and unregistered NDIS providers and workers are required to comply with the NDIS Code of Conduct.

At My Goal, quality practice means delivering supports and services that are:

  • Safe, competent, and person-centred
  • Delivered with care, skill, and professionalism
  • Consistent with individual plans, behaviour support strategies, and organisational procedures
  • Staff are expected to understand and uphold their responsibilities under the NDIS Code of Conduct, including providing supports and services in a safe and competent manner at all times.
  • Applicants must be willing to work within these standards and accept guidance, supervision, and feedback as part of professional practice.
