Independent Living Victoria are currently seeking experienced Female Disability Support Workers, to work across multiple locations around Melbourne.

The role may involve:


Personal care (showering, toileting, and personal hygiene assistance).
Bowel Care and Catheter Care.
Manual handling and/or the use of equipment to support mobility (wheelchairs or hoists).
Community Access.
Assistance with medications.
Light domestic duties and meal preparation.

Essential criteria:


Minimum 2 years’ experience working with High Intensity, Complex Care clients or in SIL accommodation.

Experience with Complex Bowel Care and Catheter Care is highly desirable.

Experience with Personal Hygiene and Hoisting/Manual Handling.

Proven experience working with Challenging Behaviours (BOC).

Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken, and the ability to build long term relationships.

Flexible availability, including AM/PM/ON, as well as the ability to work short shifts when required.

An understanding of the disability/community services sector and person-centred approach.

Transferable life/work skills along with a caring and compassionate nature.

A genuine interest in the wellbeing & inclusion of people with disabilities.

To be successful in this role, you must hold or be willing to obtain the following prior to employment:


A valid Australian Drivers Licence and regular access to a vehicle with full comprehensive insurance.

A qualification in Disability Support, Individual Support, Aged Care or Nursing.

NDIS Worker Screening Check.

The legal right to work in Australia.

A current Police Check.

A current Manual Handling certificate, completed within the last year.

Ability to provide 2 professional references.

NDIS Modules and other certificates relating to Healthcare, i.e. Hand Hygiene, Infection Prevention and Control.
